Why I started Noelle’s Ark
In my childhood home, there were always cats and dogs. Some were pets and others were strays that we fed and sheltered. We named one stray Morris Jr. (Mojo for short) because he resembled the famous orange Morris of the 9Lives cat food commercials. One day. Mojo struggled into our basement with a fractured jaw. My father took him to a local veterinarian, but we couldn’t afford to fix Mojo’s jaw. At 9 years old, I couldn’t understand why an otherwise healthy cat couldn’t be saved. I would have done anything to save Mojo. But he was euthanized.
I think of families in similar situations bringing cats like Mojo or their beloved dog to a veterinarian and facing this awful dilemma. I can’t think of many situations as terrifying to a child, and even to an adult, as being unable to save your pet due to a lack of funds. Unfortunately, many beloved pets are euthanized for this reason.
Noelle’s Ark was established to provide financial assistance to pet owners who are considering euthanasia of an animal solely due to their inability to fund veterinary treatment. Donations to Noelle’s Ark are used primarily to assist families in these circumstances. Noelle’s Ark also endeavors to familiarize pet owners with affordable options for veterinary care on Long Island and in New York City. Our mission is to limit the euthanasia of pets with manageable conditions on Long Island and in New York City.
Please donate to Noelle’s Ark. Do it to help your neighbors with pets on Long Island and in New York City. Do it for Mojo
